Menna To Flint
The Sudbury Wolves announced a trade today with the Flint Firebirds that sends 17-year-old goaltender Matthew Menna to the Firebirds in exchange for a 7th round draft selection in 2017. The native of Aurora recorded a 4.77 goals against average and a .860 save percentage in ten games with the Wolves this season. Menna had a 1-win and 4-loss record with the Wolves this season.
The Wolves now have two 18-year-old goaltenders in the nets to finish the season including former 2nd round selection Troy Timpano and recently acquired goaltender Zach Bowman – who began the season with the Flint Firebirds. Bowman was outstanding in goal on Friday night by making 49 saves in leading the Wolves to an exciting 3-2 overtime win over the North Bay Battalion in front of 3,200 cheering fans.
The Wolves will close-out their three-home-game week on Sunday, January 10th when they host the defending Western Conference Champion Erie Otters at 2:00 p.m. All youngsters 12 and under will receive admission for only $7 if accompanied by an adult for Sunday’s afternoon game. There are some great seats still available at the door for Sunday’s game as Sudbury fans can watch Adam DiBrincat and Dylan Strome making their one and only appearance at the Sudbury arena this season. Both players are expected to be playing in the NHL next season given their oustanding success in the OHL. Box Office opens at 11am.
