In Tough in Plymouth
The Sudbury Wolves travelled to Plymouth on Saturday night for a matchup against the top-ranked Whalers.
The Wolves jumped out to the early 1 – 0 lead late in the first period after JOSH MCFADDEN (MICHAEL SGARBOSSA, ANDREY KUCHIN) scored on the powerplay.
The Whalers responded in the second period with two goals, and added two more in the third period, including an empty-netter, to win the game by a final score of 4 – 1.
The Pack had their opportunities but were just unable to solve the Whalers netminder Scott Wedgewood, who made 42 saves for the win and earned the game’s First Star.
JOEL VIENNEAU got the start in goal for the Wolves after JOHAN MATTSSON was injured during the warm up. His condition will be reassessed tomorrow. VIENNEAU made 29 saves in the loss.
The Wolves will close out the weekend with a Sunday afternoon contest in Windsor against the Spitfires. Game time is 2:00pm.
