Getting to Know – Cameron Searles
In today’s segment of ‘Getting to Know’, meet the Sudbury Wolves 6th round selection in the 2014 OHL Priority Selection, CAMERON SEARLES.
CAMERON SEARLES was the Wolves 4th pick in the draft. He is a speedy forward with a great hockey sense and unreal athleticism. SEARLES is from Markham, Ontario where he played for the Midget AAA Coyotes. His coach said that he is a “Playmaking forward who is very difficult to play against down low. He has deceptive top-end speed and displays patience and poise in scoring areas.”

Q: How would you describe your personality?
A: I am hardworking and responsible, a kind and respectful leader, yet I love to joke around and have fun when the time is appropriate.
Q: What do you like to do in your downtime?
A: In my downtime, I like participating in many school sports, listening to music, and spending time with my family and friends.
Q: What are you working on to prepare for the upcoming OHL season and how are you working on it?
A: I am working on becoming stronger and faster for the upcoming season. I am focusing on strength and conditioning in the gym, so that I can be a strong physical presence on the ice. I am also improving my cardio by going for runs, and improving my skating by doing power skating sessions, so that I can maintain a high compete level throughout entire games.
Q: Which NHL player do you model yourself after and why?
A: I model myself after Ryan Getzlaf of the Anaheim Ducks. I love how well he plays a two-way game. He leads by example as he takes care of his defensive responsibilities, but is also a dominant offensive force in the league, and that is how I try to play.
