Bring on the Bears!
The Sudbury Wolves will look to make in 8 in a row on Sunday at 2 o’clock when they host the North Bay Battalion. Sunday’s game is the TEDDY BEAR TOSS sponsored by TRAVELODGE HOTEL and all fans attending the game are encouraged to bring a new stuffed toy to the game and donate it to the TD Toy Bank. When the Wolves score the first goal of the game, fans will throw their teddy bears onto the ice and all of the toys will be gathered and provided to local youngsters at Christmas time.The annual Teddy Bear Toss is one of the most popular community promotions that the Wolves organize and the team would like to thank TRAVELODGE HOTEL in Sudbury for sponsoring this very special promotion.
The Wolves and the Battalion are the hottest teams in the Eastern Conference and the teams are only five points apart in the standings. The Wolves have won 7 games in a row while the Battalion have won 4 games in a row. NATHAN PANCEL will be looking to add to his torrid scoring pace which sees the Ottawa native at the 31 goal mark. PANCEL has moved into six place in league scoring and just one point behind MATHEW CAMPAGNA who sits in 5th place in league scoring. NICK BAPTISTE scored his 20th goal of the season on Friday night against the Oshawa. The Ottawa native is having a career season so far. BAPTISTE is often called upon to take key face-offs in the defensive zone and the big 6’2″ forward has been very effective in that role.
FRANKY PALAZZESE continues is excellent play of late between the pipes. The free agent goaltender is attracting lots of attention of late with his acrobatic saves and ability to make key saves at key times of the game. PALAZZESE, KEVIN RAINE and CRAIG DUININCK have all been instrumental in the Wolves’ success of late and the graduating veterans are looking at concluding the pre-Christmas schedule on a winning note. Newcomer CONNOR CRISP has also been an key addition for the Wolves as the former Erie Otter continues to produce offensively while leading the team in penalty minutes.
On the NORTH BAY side of things, former Wolves’ goaltender BRENDAN O’NEILL is expected to get the start against his former teammates. The London native has enjoyed a solid season so far in North Bay and is showing everyone in the OHL that he is a very capable netminder. BARCLAY GOODROW is the captain and go-to-guy for the Battalion. The 20 year old forward has 20 goals on the season and continues to be a thorn in the side of opponents by scoring key goals for the Battalion. The Wolves and the Battalion are 1 and 1 against each other this season and will meet six more times including Sunday’s 2 pm game.
There are plenty of great seats available for SUNDAY’s TEDDY BEAR TOSS game. Please be sure to bring a stuffed toy to the game. The Wolves are hoping to hit the 4,000 mark in attendance for this game and are hoping to collect 2,000 teddy bears.
