Belleville Bullies Wolves
The Sudbury Wolves dropped their fourth consecutive game on Saturday night in Belleville as the Bulls closed-out their season with a 7-4 victory over the weary Wolves.
Once again, the Wolves gave-up the opening goal this time only 39 seconds into the contest. Wolves’ sophomore Connor Burgess decided to change the momentum at the ensuing face-off as the Wolves’ forward held his own against Bulls enforcer Jake Bricknell.
Jacob Harris notched his 10th goal of the season soon after the fight. The Bulls regained the lead on a rebound on Wolves’ starter Franky Palazzese. Nick Baptiste scored his 45th goal of the season to tie the game at 2-2 after the opening frame.
It was all Belleville in the second period as the Bulls scored two unanswered goals to take a 4-2 lead.
Ray Heuther got the Wolves within one but again the Bulls rallied to take a 5-3 lead. Connor Crisp scored his 27th goal of the season on the power play with less than three minutes remaining in the contest to make it 5-4, but the Bulls ended the game with two empty-net goals.
Shots on goal favoured Sudbury 48-41. The loss was a costly one as the Colts won their final game of the season against Peterborough to clinch 4th place in the Eastern Conference.
