Wolves Host Spirit and Battalion This Weekend
A busy January continues this weekend as the Sudbury Wolves look to build off Sunday’s win when they host the Saginaw Spirit and North Bay Battalion Friday and Saturday in double-header action. The Wolves have continued to improve since the trade deadline 6 days ago with new line combinations and the defense pairings continuing to get to know each other.
The Wolves will first kick off the weekend on Thursday when they travel to North Bay to face the Battalion at 7:00pm. Fans can follow the Wolves on the road in a number of different ways this season. Fans can listen to the live play by play on the radio at 96.7 CKLU or mxlr.com/sudburywolves on the Sudbury Wolves App. In addition to listening to the game, fans can tune into more coverage than ever before on Eastlink TV Channel 10 or 610 to watch the available broadcasts.
Friday, the Wolves host the Saginaw Spirit for their only appearance this season at 7:05pm. Saginaw’s rosters features two local Sudbury players, including Hanmer native Damien Giroux and Naughton native Cameron Lamour. Giroux is in his second year in the league and sits 4th in team scoring with 30 points in 41 games. Lamour on the other hand is in his first season in net for the Spirit and backs up New Jersey Devils prospect Evan Cormier.
Friday’s game is sponsored by The Home Depot who will be on hand with many giveaways throughout the game including Toques for the first 1000 fans. Fans will also have the chance to win a The Home Depot Gift Card with the purchase of a Wolves signed puck. Come down early and check out DT COLLECTIVE on the CKLU Stage behind section 4 prior to the game and during intermissions.
The Wolves return to the ice Saturday to face Northern rivals, the North Bay Battalion at 7:05pm. The Battalion are led upfront by 19-year-old forward Justin Brazeau. The Battalion roster also features two local Sudbury players in Hanmer native Brad Chenier and Val Caron native Daniel Walker.
Saturday’s game is sponsored by the Lexington Hotel who will be on hand with prizes for lucky fans. Don’t miss the Lexington Hotel Rapid Fire shoot-out in the first intermission where one lucky fan will win a special prize pack courtesy of the Lexington Hotel.
Despite a lopsided loss to the Barrie Colts the day after the trade deadline last week, the Wolves have bounced back well, playing the Mississauga Steelheads hard on Friday night losing a close contest before ultimately holding the Owen Sound Attack off for a 2-1 win Sunday. The win was a rewarding one for players, coaches and fans because it demonstrated that the new look Wolves have the discipline and dedication to close out a tough game at the end of the weekend.
