Sokolov Signs ATO With Iowa
The Sudbury Wolves would like to congratulate Dmitry Sokolov on signing an Amateur Tryout Agreement (ATO) with the Iowa Wild this week. General Manager of the Iowa Wild, Brent Flahr, announced Thursday that the AHL club was pleased to welcome Dmitry Sokolov to the team.
Dmitry, 18, the Sudbury Wolves leading scorer during the 2016-2017 season with 48 goals and 24 assists in 64 games in his second season with the Wolves. Over the course of the last two seasons, the 6-foot, 200-pound winger Omsk, Russia native, has 78 goals and 124 points in 132 OHL games. Sokolov was drafted by the Minnesota Wild in the seventh round (#196 overall) of the 2016 NHL Entry Draft and claimed many awards for his season performance this year.
With 5 games left in the AHL season, Sokolov could make his professional debut as early as Saturday April 8th in Chicago against the Chicago Wolves of the AHL in a Iowa Wild uniform.
