FRAUD ALERT: PLEASE BE AWARE
(Greater Sudbury, ON) – Dear Sudbury Wolves Fans,
We are writing to you today with a crucial and important message regarding a potential security concern that may affect members of our community.
It’s remained at our attention that a phishing e-mail scam has been circulating for an extended period of time, attempting to impersonate the Sudbury Wolves organization, team members, and staff. These fraudulent emails may look legitimate and often ask for sensitive information, personal details, financial credentials and requests for e-transfers.
A fraudulent e-mail scam that has remained prevalent is a scam involving the impersonation of an SWSE staff member, asking local businesses for money through means such as e-transfer for the opportunity to be a vendor at Wolves games.
We want to be absolutely clear: The Sudbury Wolves organization is NOT responsible for sending these scam emails, and we sincerely apologize for any confusion, alarm, or inconvenience this criminal activity has caused you.
⚠ What You Need to Know & Do:
- DO NOT Click: If you receive a suspicious email, do not click on any links, open any attachments, or reply to the sender.
- DO NOT Share Information: The Sudbury Wolves will never ask you for your passwords, credit card numbers, or other sensitive personal information via unsolicited email.
- DO NOT Send Money: The Sudbury Wolves and SWSE staff members will not ask your business for money through e-transfer.
- Verify the Sender: Always check the sender’s email address. Our official communications will only come from our recognized domains which end in @sudburywolves.com and @swse.ca – Watch out for slight misspellings or unusual domain names.
- Delete Suspicious Emails: We recommend immediately deleting any email you suspectis part of this scam.
- Contact the Police: Please inform local law enforcement of any fraudulent e-mails impersonating the Sudbury Wolves, SWSE, or its staff members.
