Wolves Face-off Against Steelheads for Playoff Home Games 1 and 2
(GREATER SUDBURY, ON) Wolves Nation, the 2024 OHL Playoffs are here, and it is time to PACK the DEN. The Wolves begin their round one series in Mississauga tonight before returning to the DEN on Monday.
Wolves are set to host games three and four of the series, Monday, April 1st and Wednesday, April 3rd with both games set for 7:05pm.
In the Wolves final regular season games, they showcased that they are ready for the playoffs with scoring a total of 23 goals in 3 games. Wolves’ captain David Goyette capped off his dominate season by scoring 11 points (3G-8A) over 2 games, including a 6-point performance. In addition, David Goyette captured the Eddie Powers Trophy, which is awarded to the top scorer in the OHL. Other notable players include Quentin Musty who scored 10 points (4G-6A), helping eclipse the 100-point mark. Kocha Delic put on a scoring clinic, scoring 6 goals in 2 games. Andre Anania also set a franchise record in the internet era for highest plus/minus in team history, finishing the regular season with a +49.
The Mississauga Steelheads enter this first round matchup as the 4th seed. With each team having 3 wins against each other, the Steelheads will need to rely on their top players and goaltending in order come out of the series on top. The Steelheads will be led by NHL draft prospect Luke Misa, who leads the team with 81 points (26G-55A). The Steelheads will be backed by goaltenders Ryerson Leenders, who led the league in save percentage with 0.909% and Jack Ivankovic, who recently won the F.W. Dinty Moore Trophy, which is awarded to the rookie goaltender with the lowest goals against average.
