Wolves Partner with SKHC for the Second Annual Indigenous Designed Jersey
(GREATER SUDBURY, ON) The Sudbury Wolves are very excited to partner with the Shkagamik-Kwe Health Centre (SKHC) to unveil the second annual Indigenous designed themed jersey ahead of this Saturday’s game against the Kitchener Rangers in support of Indigenous Youth in Sport and Mental Wellness. Game time is set for 7:05pm.
The jerseys were designed by the talented group, Raven Debassige (Indigenous Artist) and Melanie Laquerre (SKHC’s Creative Director). All jerseys will be available to purchase through an online auction HERE.
“Indigenous night is a celebration and Shkagamik-Kwe Health Centre is honoured to partner with the Sudbury Wolves organization again,” said Jordan Assinewe, Manager of Community Relations, and Health Promotions. “With our collective efforts towards reconciliation, we celebrate the resiliency of Indigenous people in our community, in our nation and on Turtle Island. This year’s jersey is a concept that built off, of last year’s jersey. The design emphasis is on the colour red this year, which represents the southern doorway in our Medicine Wheel along with the teachings that come with it. The teachings of growth, the teachings of empathy and it symbolizes passion.”
“It’s with great pride and a profound sense of responsibility that we come together to unveil this jersey today for the second annual indigenous night,” Dario Zulich, Sudbury Wolves Owner. “This Partnership we have with the Indigenous communities is one based on mutual respect, share values, and a commitment to celebrating its rich culture.”
Wolves will also have t-shirts for sale with this year’s Indigenous logo where a portion of the proceeds will be donated to support Indigenous Youth in Sport and Mental Wellness. The t-shirt will be available during the game in the team merch store and online at greatersports.ca. With the combination from last year’s Indigenous designed jerseys and t-shirt sales the game raised over $5,000.
Saturday’s game is proudly sponsored by Kina Gbezhgomi Child & Family Services and marks the Kitchener Rangers, the top team in the Western Conference’s only visit this season. Prior to the game, the Wolves will also welcome two local Indigenous youth for a ceremonial puck-drop.
