Tracking the Storm—Matt Kennedy
A 7th round pick in the 2005 Priority Selection, the Shanty Bay native played a total of 202 games for the Storm. His most impressive year was in’08-’09 when he was named the recipient of:
- Guelph Storm Top Scorer Award
- Tony Camilleri Memorial ‘Playmaker Trophy’
- Guelph Storm Fan Club Award
- Guelph Storm Leadership Award, and
- Glad Mowatt MVP Award.
He was traded to the Barrie Colts in 2010 during his OA season.
Drafted by the Hurricanes in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft, Kennedy played three seasons in the AHL split between the Charlotte Checkers, Syracuse Crunch and Norfolk Admirals.
He retired from pro hockey in 2013 and attended the University of Waterloo from 2013-2019 where he graduated with an Honours, Co-op, Accounting and Financial Management Degree. He is currently the Associate Director of Guelph’s Skyline Clean Energy Inc where he oversees the Acquisitions and Business Operations division of Skyline Energy.
