Taylor at your Beck and call

Look who’s screening the goaltender if you can’t spot Taylor Beck on the ice.
Beck, who grew up playing hockey in the Niagara Falls minor hockey system, is the Guelph Storm’s gritty 6-foot-1, 202-pound forward who invades opposing goaltender’s space on a nightly basis in the OHL.
“Yeah, I feel comfortable standing in front. It’s where I like to score from, “ Beck once told me following a game against the Niagara IceDogs. “I know I’m going to get my bumps and bruises, but it’s worth it.”
So it came as no surprise that Falls-born Beck was named to the Western Conference’s glorious 2010 OHL All-Star Classic roster earlier today in Kingston.
A draft pick of the Nashville Predators, Beck is currently fifth in OHL scoring with 22 goals and 58 points in only 39 games this season.
He’s a big forward who generates offence every time he steps onto the ice for the Storm, and isn’t afraid to muck it up, but Guelph head coach Jason Brooks isn’t quick to call him a power forward.
