Syvret makes pro debut with Amerks

Storm captain Corey Syvret signed an ATO with the Rochester Americans late last week.  The five year OHL veteran made his pro debut just miles from his hometown of Millgrove, Ontario when the Amerks travelled to Hamilton to face the Bulldogs.

Originally drafted, but unsigned by the Florida Panthers, Syvret made his debut with Florida’s top minor league affiliate on Saturday night.  Syvret and the Americans took the game 4-3 in a shootout with the former Storm blueliner finishing the game with a +1 plus/minus rating.

Syvret’s OHL career came to a close with the Storm’s elimination in London in late-March.  The former first round pick of the Knights played three and a half seasons in Guelph and saw his point totals increase each year.
