Storm trades captain to Barrie
The Guelph Storm has traded overage forward Matt Kennedy to the Barrie Colts.
In exchange the Storm receives overage defenceman Ryan Gottschalk and three draft picks: Sudbury’s third round pick in 2010, Barrie’s second round picks in 2011 and 2012.
“He had asked a month ago about the possibility of moving closer to home,” Storm coach/general manager Jason Brooks said Thursday.
Kennedy is trying to earn an NHL contract after being drafted by the Carolina Hurricanes last year. Barrie currently has the best record in the entire Ontario Hockey League.
