Storm takes positives out of .500 weekend
By Tony Saxon, Guelph Mercury – Nobody likes losing, but after a rough couple of weeks the Guelph Storm thinks it is slowly getting back on track.
Despite losing 4-2 to the Mississauga St. Mike’s Majors Sunday in Mississauga, the Storm earned three of a possible six points on the weekend.
An overtime loss Friday against Erie, a 7-4 win over the 10th-ranked Kitchener Rangers Saturday at the Sleeman Centre and Sunday’s hard-fought loss to the sixth-ranked Majors.
Sunday’s game was tied 2-2 until David Corrente’s point shot beat a screened Cody St. Jacques in the Storm net with 2:10 left in the third period. An empty-netter sealed the win.
“We came out with three points and played very well against two highly regarded teams,” said St. Jacques. “Except for the first 40 minutes against Erie Friday night, I thought we played really well.”
