Storm takes pair of local players
By Tony Saxon, Guelph Mercury – It’s just as well that Brody Milne was busy Saturday.
Milne was participating in the Ontario Minor Hockey Association under-17 camp at the University of Guelph all weekend and found out via a lunchtime phone call from his agent that he had been drafted in the fourth round by the Guelph Storm.
Milne had been pegged to go in the top three rounds.
“I was hoping to go a bit higher, but I’m very happy with which team drafted me,” Milne said Sunday.
“But I don’t think I’m looking at it as a disappointment. Training camp will be a whole different thing and I’ve just got to go out there and prove that I’m better than the first and second rounders and try and make the team.”
Milne, a 6-foot-1, 175-pounder who can play left wing or centre, had 22 goals and 24 assists in 53 games for the Halton Hurricanes minor midgets last season.
