Storm pulls ahead over Saginaw

Not only did Monday night’s 7-3 win over the Saginaw Spirit give the Storm a 2-1 advantage in their opening round best-of-seven series, it also switched home-ice advantage to Guelph.
“It was definitely nice to get that win in their barn, obviously you have to get at least one here if you want to win the series,” the Storm’s Peter Holland said. “Now we’re looking forward to the next game and bringing the same effort.”
Once again it was the surprising Storm power play that played a big role in the win. For the second consecutive game the locals connected for four power play goals.
“Simplifying it,” Scott Walker said of the key to the man advantage success his team has had in the last two games.
“Our power play has a very high skill level and it can be dangerous when it wants to be. Tonight they wanted to be.”
The Storm fell behind early 2-1 but managed to tie the game before the first period ended.
The visitors then struck for three unanswered goals in the second period to pull away.
The way Brandon Foote was playing, it was all but over heading into the third. Foote made 37 saves, many of them brilliant ones early in the game to keep the Storm in it until the offence got going.
