Storm players face must win game Tuesday
Despite recent events, Guelph Storm coach Bill Stewart is maintaining a big picture approach as his team faces elimination Tuesday night in Game 4 of their Western Conference semifinal at the Sleeman Centre.
Break out the clichés.
The Guelph Storm has its back to the wall, will take it one game at a time and still thinks it can get back in the series against the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds. It’s really the only public face you can put on at this point.
Stewart said the current series shouldn’t overshadow what the team has accomplished this year given all the adversity it has faced.
“You’ve got to look at all the positives and they always outweigh the negatives when you get to this point in the season,” Stewart said.
“If you’re narrow minded and you only think about the last three games, you’re not going to survive in this game very long.”
So far the Soo, the top-ranked team in Canada, has dominated the series, winning the first three games with ease and outscoring the Storm by a combined 22-8.
“We’re looking at it one game at a time, but we’re also looking at the progression of our young players because next year we’re going to have a young team, that’s the realism of this sport.
“We had the fantastic year last year that everyone will talk about for years to come, but right now we’re a team in transition and you have to realize that as an organization and we do,” the Storm coach said.
Stewart said it’s important to realize just how good of a team the Greyhounds are.
