Richard fits right in
By Tony Saxon, Guelph Mercury
Looks like we can forget about any adjustment period for the Guelph Storm’s latest import.
Tanner Richard looked like a seasoned veteran Thursday night, contributing on all the Guelph goals in a 4-4 pre-season draw with the Mississauga St. Michael’s Majors.
Richard scored twice and added two assists.
“He looks like a guy that’s played in the league before,” Storm coach Scott Walker said of the 18-year-old, the team’s first round pick in this year’s Canadian Hockey League Import Draft.
A Swiss national with strong Canadian ties, Richard’s game seems well-suited to the North American style. He can give and take the physical play and his hockey sense and stick skills are already some of the best on the team.
