Red hot Leslie helps Storm crush Rangers

It’s somewhat fitting that Guelph Storm defenceman Zac Leslie was wearing black and yellow for Sunday’s game against the Kitchener Rangers.
The jerseys were in honour of the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, but Leslie was using it to better his Bobby Orr imitation in a 6-0 win over the Kitchener Rangers at the Sleeman Centre.
Leslie scored twice and added two assists and Justin Nichols made 34 saves for his first career shutout.
Leslie also had a team-record four goals Saturday night in a 6-2 road win over the Plymouth Whalers. In four games last week the 19-year-old Ottawa native totaled six goals and four assists.
“I’ve definitely never been on a hot streak like this before,” said Leslie, a Los Angeles Kings draft pick who now has 21 points in 18 games this season.
“I haven’t changed my game, I’m just being in the right spots,” he said.
“I think you get confidence in your game and that’s the best thing any player can have. When you can build it with two games like that it helps a lot.”
Storm coach Scott Walker said he expects the team’s defencemen to join the rush when it makes sense.
“We always ask our defence to be the second layer of attack, but he’s been a bit more than second layer lately. He’s having one of those good times,” Walker said.
