Quiet Cody McNaughton is a good teammate

Cody McNaughton has a pretty wry sense of humour.
Suddenly in the media spotlight again as he became the team’s all-time leader in games played and having scored seven points in three games, McNaughton jokingly commented on the media’s sudden interest.
“I’ve only been interviewed twice this year and it was ‘what’s wrong’ and ‘why are you so old?’ ” the Guelph Storm veteran joked recently.
With quiet often misunderstood as sullen and serious often mistaken for sulking, McNaughton has suffered his fair share of slings and arrows this season. Some of it justified, given his lack of production, some of it not.
He is a quiet kid. A serious kid. A focused kid. And he loves Guelph as much as any player that ever played here.
Now, all of a sudden, the extremely likable McNaughton is back in the limelight, back smiling and back playing well, with seven points in his past three games and a centre-ice ceremony Friday night to honour his longevity with the Storm.
Despite his up-and-down career in Guelph, McNaughton has never publicly complained. Never openly demanded this or demanded that, never been seen as a disruptive force.
He has played for four different coaches and three general managers and all have had good things to say about him.
He has always loved Guelph and always wanted to play here. In past years he has twice been traded, once apparently turning down a trade to Plymouth and once reportedly having a trade to Ottawa nixed by the Storm owners.
