Powerplay sputters in Storm in loss
The Guelph Storm left the Powerade Centre in Brampton for the last time with a 5-1 loss versus the Battalion.
Andrey Pedan’s point shot through Matej Machovsky’s legs was the lone first period goal and gave the visitors a 1-0 lead heading into the second. Tanner Richard, who was back in the lineup after a one game absence due to injury, picked up the only assist on Pedan’s 6th of the season.
The Storm had every opportunity to take control of the contest with seven straight powerplays but instead it was the Battalion that jumped on top. After a short video replay review, Patrick Machac tied the score and then Barclay Goodrow notched the eventual game winner shorthanded minutes later.
Brampton added another second period tally and a pair in the third to make it a 5-1 final.
It’s three games this week for the Storm beginning Wednesday night with a mid-week trip to Belleville to face the Bulls. On Friday night, the Mississauga Steelheads will make their only visit to the Sleeman Centre before Guelph boards the bus for another long ride to Erie to take on the Otters on Saturday night.
