Player of the Week
The Guelph Storm announced today that defenceman Matt Finn is the AMJ Player of the Week for the week ending Sunday, October 9th.
Finn led all Storm defencemen in points this week picking up four with one goal and three assists in two games over the Thanksgiving weekend. Named First Star against the Battalion, Finn assisted on Tanner Richard’s third period goal and scored what appeared to be the winner in the third period of Friday’s heartbreaking 4-3 overtime loss. On Thanksgiving Sunday at the Sleeman Centre, the Toronto native assisted on Andrey Pedan’s winning goal in the third and helped set up Cody McNaughton later in the Storm’s 6-3 come from behind victory over the Spirit. He was also a plus two on the weekend.
Guelph’s first round pick last season, Finn has enjoyed a great start to his NHL Draft season currently sitting sixth in scoring among all Storm players and first in defence scoring with eight points. Recording two goals, six assists with three multi point games already this season, the 17 year old ranks third in OHL defence scoring.
