Penner brothers bring different skills
By Hap Fry, Coloradoan.com – It took Andrew Penner a few years to throw down the gloves, but after he got into his first professional fight last October against the Rocky Mountain Rage, the Colorado Eagles goaltender immediately placed a call to younger brother Alex.
While Andrew Penner is best known for his exceptional prowess between the pipes, Alex Penner is better known for his ability and willingness to throw down at any time.
“He called me, and I think that night I actually had a fight too so we were sharing some stories,” Alex Penner said. “I watched (his fight) on YouTube. I was telling him what he could do to make it a little better.”
In this instance younger, not necessarily little, brother knows best.
According to www.Hockeyfights.com, Alex Penner has been in 55 professional fights since 2004.
The 6-foot-4, 230-pound forward has taken his hazardous yet skilled trade to the Colorado Eagles this season where he will team with his brother in hopes of leading the Eagles to their third Presidents’ Cup.
“Alex is definitely tough,” Andrew Penner said. “He was up in the American (Hockey) League last year, and he had some really good fights against some really tough guys. That’s his forte, and he doesn’t veer away from it too often.”
