Jason ‘the Wall’ DaSilva
By Mike Dundas, OMHA Hometown Hockey
FOR MANY PLAYERS THE FIRST YEARS OF HOCKEY ARE ABOUT THE BASICS; SKATING, PASSING AND SHOOTING.
Jason Da Silva started playing hockey at the age of four in Milton and his focus has always been on stopping pucks.
“I knew that I was going to be playing net” Jason explained. Before every game and practice Jason’s coach would ask who wanted to play goalie and Jason’s hand would shoot up to volunteer; while his father Joe would struggle to lower it so other kids would have a chance “I would always end up being the kid in net and would look up at my dad in the stands with a big smile on my face”. However, Joe remembers Jason’s first hockey experiences a bit differently. “Jason loaded up the car himself with all of his equipment and was honking on the horn to hurry me up about 5 hours before his game”.
