I feel like I was in a car accident

Cody McNaughton doesn’t remember the collision Sunday afternoon that knocked him out cold.
Late in the second period, the Guelph Storm forward took an elbow from a Knights player and lay motionless on the ice for several minutes. As a precaution, McNaughton was removed from the ice on a stretcher and taken to hospital where he was examined and released.
McNaughton watched from rinkside Tuesday as his teammates practised at the Sleeman Centre.
“I feel a lot better today than I did yesterday,” he said. “I’m still sore, but I’m just taking it day by day.”
McNaughton’s return date is unknown at this time. After recovering from soreness and swelling to his neck, head and back areas, he will need to pass concussion testing before he returns to the ice.
“Right now I feel like I was in a car accident,” said McNaughton, who was scheduled to see the doctor again on Wednesday.
“There’s a lot of pain, but nothing was broken or moved, so that’s the main thing. Other than that there’s just a lot of pain and wait until it heals.”
It was a freak play that led to the scary injury.
Late in the second period at London’s Budweiser Garden, the Guelph winger was skating into the corner where Knights defenceman Tommy Hughes was trying to protect the puck along the boards. As the 6-foot-2, 215-pound Hughes braced for a collision, his arm swung round and accidentally hit the 5-foot-10, 185-pound McNaughton in the head.
