Holland earns RBC Academic Award
Guelph Storm forward Peter Holland was presented with the first of three RBC Academic Awards in an on-ice presentation during the 1st intermission of Sunday’s 5-2 win over the Sudbury Wolves. The RBC is proud to partner with the Storm to present the award along with a $150.00 cheque three times each season.
RBC is also a proud sponsor of two annual $5,000.00 RBC Scholastic Achievement Awards. If you are a Grade 12 student that plays on a High School or community hockey team, you can win a $5,000 scholarship towards your University or College studies next year.
On Sunday afternoon, the award for the first of three segments was presented to Peter Holland by Shari Dorr from the University of Guelph.
The award is presented to a player who is excelling in his studies at the post-secondary level. The selection of the recipient of this award is based on interim grades from the Fall 2010 semester.
A native of Caledon, Ontario, Holland consistently and independently balances a demanding hockey schedule with academic responsibilities in order to realize a high level of success in both. To date in the fall semester he has achieved a B average in a challenging Introductory Microeconomics course, despite having missed the first two and a half weeks of the semester while attending his second NHL camp with the Anaheim Ducks.
