Fabbri ready to impress Blues fans
By Jeremy Rutherford, St. Louis Post-Dispatch
Robby Fabbri admittedly is not much of a baseball fan, but the Blues’ most recent first-round draft pick was excited to attend the Cardinals-Pirates game Monday with a group of other prospects.
“Being in the building, it’s hard not to be a fan when you’ve got everyone going crazy for the Cardinals,” Fabbri said.
The Blues’ youngsters, in town for this week’s development camp, left Busch Stadium in the sixth inning and weren’t in their seats when Matt Adams hit a home run in the bottom of the ninth inning for a 2-0 victory.
“Yeah, we had to watch that one on TV,” Fabbri bemoaned.
It might be a few years, but the Guelph Storm center who was the MVP of the Ontario Hockey League playoffs hopes to deliver those types of dramatic moments for Blues fans. He has been impressed with the high turnout through two days at the development camp, which is being held at the St. Louis Outlet Mall.
“The first skate, I was wowed by how many people showed up,” Fabbri said. “It just goes to show what a great city it is to play in, and how they support us. I know the team does great with giving back and I’d like to be a big part in giving back to the fans.”
