Dave joined the Storm during the 2007 off-season as one of two new additions to the Storm coaching staff. Prior to his start in Guelph, he worked two seasons in the St. Thomas Stars Jr. B organization, one as an Assistant Coach and the second season as Head Coach.
Milek started his coaching career in 2003-04 with a two-year stint as an Assistant Coach with the University of Western Mustangs. The London, Ontario native helped lead the Mustangs to their second OUA title in 2004-05.
A teacher away from the rink, Milek is well educated with an Honours BA from the University of Guelph and Masters degree in Kinesiology with a specialization in coaching from Western plus a bachelor of education degree in teaching.
A former defenceman, Milek played one season in the West Coast League with the Bakersfield Condors and Long Beach Ice Dogs. His biggest highlight was winning the 1997 CIAU hockey championship with the Guelph Gryphons.
