Daniel Paille Injured: Takes Puck in the Face

Guelph was the only junior team Paille would play for during his growth to the NHL.  He was selected 20^th overall in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft and tallied 247 career points in 4 years with the Storm.  He spent a full season in the AHL before being called up to the NHL where he debuted with the Buffalo Sabres in 2005-2006.  After a brief AHL stint to begin the 2006-2007 season, Paille has been a full time NHL’er ever since.  He was traded to Boston at the beginning of the 2009-2010 season where he captured a Stanley Cup last spring along with former Storm Head Coach and current Bruins Assistant Coach Geoff Ward.

A scary moment occurred in the third period of Monday night’s game between the Bruins and Islanders. As New York’s Steve Staios lined up for a slap shot just in front of the blue line, Boston forward Daniel Paille got in front of him to try to block it. Unfortunately, the puck nailed Paille directly in the face and the six-year veteran immediately fell down.
