Biltmore Hats presented before win
Nearly sixty years after the first Biltmore hat was presented to a junior hockey player from the storied Guelph Biltmore Mad Hatters franchise, the Guelph Storm and Guelph’s Biltmore Hats returned the ‘Hat Trick’ tradition to junior hockey in the Royal City.
Sunday’s game was Timbits Minor Hockey Day at the Storm and to celebrate the day, three local Timbit Minor Hockey players participated in the on-ice presentation with each Timbit presenting a Biltmore hat to the Storm players.
Matt Sisca received a pair of Biltmore Hats for two ‘Hat Tricks’. The third year forward scored his second and third career hat tricks in a pair of wins for Guelph. On December 11th, Sisca scored four times to help the Storm to an 8-1 victory over Owen Sound. Only eight days later, Sisca turned the trick again with another four goal game in Guelph’s 4-3 home win over Plymouth.
On January 9th, Michael Latta recorded the first Biltmore ‘Hat Trick’ of his OHL career notching three goals in less than 12 minutes to carry Guelph to a 6-3 road win over the Soo Greyhounds.
Less than two hours after celebrating the outstanding games of Sisca and Latta, another Storm player added his name to the Biltmore ‘Hat Trick’ list with a four goal outburst in Sunday’s 8-3 win over Sudbury. Third-year centre Peter Holland notched the second hat trick of his career and will be honoured next weekend when the Storm take on the Saginaw Spirit on Friday night.
