Be part of our Hometown Heroes program
Beginning this Sunday, November 23rd before our home game against the Kitchener Rangers, the Guelph Storm will launch our “Hometown Heroes” program for another season.
Our first Hometown Heroes of the 2014-15 season will be local boxers Taveena Kum, Sasan Haghighat-Joo, Paul Rasmussen, Sara Haghighat-Joo and coach Stevie Bailey. These five individuals are members of Guelph’s TNT Boxing Academy. Earlier in November, Rasmussen, Kum and Sasan Haghighat-Joo each won national championships for their respective weight classes at the 2015 Elite Canadian Championships while Sara Haghighat-Joo took home a silver medal.
“We’re immensely proud of these boxers, and we’re proud to have the unique honour of having three national champs call our gym home,” says head coach and owner Joel Yip Chuck. “It’s a testament to the hard work they put in every day, and to the skills of our TNT coaching team, led by competitive coach, Stevie Bailey.”
The Guelph Storm is proud to honour Guelph’s national champions and “hometown heroes” in front of what should be a sold-out crowd on Sunday afternoon at the Sleeman Centre.
