Tracking the Storm—Justin Auger
Drafted in the sixth round of the 2010 OHL Priority Selection, Auger played three seasons for the Storm before being crowned an OHL Champion in 2013-14. He was selected by the LA Kings in the fourth round of the 2013 NHL Entry Draft and signed an entry-level three year contract in 2014.
One year after winning the OHL Championship with the Storm and in his first pro season, Auger, along with former Storm teammate Ryan Horvat and coach Chris Hajt, won the Calder Cup with the Manchester Monarchs.
Over the course of nine seasons, Auger played a total of 275 in the AHL for the Monarchs, Ontario Reign, Rockford IceHogs and Belleville Senators.
In 2017-18, he was called up to the NHL for two games with the LA Kings.
He finished off his pro career in 2019-20 with the Florida Everblades of the ECHL, officially retiring in 2021.
Since 2020, the Waterloo native has been enrolled in the Pre-Service Firefighter Education and Training program at FESTI. He has also been a Patient Transfer Attendant since August 2020 and a COVID-19 vaccine volunteer for the City of Waterloo since March 2021.
