Thursday is Fan Appreciation Night sponsored by Linamar
Thursday, March 23rd is Fan Appreciation Night sponsored by Linamar when the Guelph Storm host the Owen Sound Attack for the final regular season home game.
Representatives from the Guelph Storm will be awarding the Fan of the Year with a $500 cheque courtesy of Global Currency Services. Staff will be looking for a fan that stands out above all others! As an additional thank you to fans, there will be a one-night-only 10% off sale for all fans at the three Spyke’s Sport Shop retail spaces in the Sleeman Centre. There are no exclusions to the sale and season ticket holders can combine this with their existing discount.
Volunteers from Linamar will be on hand in the Community Corner at the top of section 116 with hand clappers and cowbells for fans to cheer on the team.
In what will be the overage players’ last regular season home game, the team will honour Braeden Bowman, Chandler Romeo, and Brayden Hislop with the overage player ceremony ahead of puck drop. The Guelph Storm would like to thank Braeden, Chandler, and Braeden for their commitment and dedication to the team. Their guidance both on and off the ice has helped to develop our younger players through their time in Guelph.
Ahead of Thursday, the three overage players were asked to reflect on their time in the Ontario Hockey League and Guelph.
“Guelph means everything to me. The memories and friendships I have made here will last a lifetime. Thank you to everyone who made my time in Guelph so special. Thank you to my billets who opened their home to me and helped me guide my way through my OHL career. Thank you to all the fans who pack the rink every night, the best in the league. Thank you to my family for their continued love and support. To the boys, the memories we have made over the years I will never forget, this is more than just a team, it’s the closest family I’ve ever been a part of and I am going to miss it every day, the jokes, playing cards, playing mini sticks and everything in between. Growing up with you boys was the best part about junior hockey and I can’t believe it’s over, and I wouldn’t change it for anything. I love this city”, said Captain Braeden Bowman.
“My time as a member of the Guelph Storm has been the best years of my life. Growing up idolizing the Storm and then having the opportunity to play for this team has been everything I could have imagined and more. I want to thank my coaches, for everything I’ve learned from them and for always pushing me to be better every day. I want to thank the fans, I’ve played on different teams before but there’s no fan base like Guelph. You all make it a pleasure to play at the Sleeman Centre every single night. I want to thank my family, for always supporting me through the highs and the lows. Finally, I want to thank my teammates, I’ve been gifted to have so many amazing teammates over the years. I thank you boys for every memory that we have made together. If I had a message for my younger teammates I would say not to constantly be worrying about the next years of your career when you’re standing right in the middle of the years you once dreamt of”, said Storm blueliner Chandler Romeo.
“Just would like to thank the entire Guelph Storm organization for allowing me to play in such an established and amazing organization. My time in Guelph has been the best year of hockey throughout my entire career thus far. From showing up to practice every day, to playing in front of this fan base, it has truly been something special and something I will never forget. To the coaches and management, I cannot thank you enough for believing in me and pushing me to be the best human and player both on and off the ice. To the boys, this is truly the closest hockey team I’ve ever been around. I can’t thank all of you guys enough for making every single day amazing. The memories I have made with all of you will stick with me for the rest of my life. You boys have made this year the most enjoyable, fun, and special year with the friendships I have made with all of you. I cannot wait to keep making more memories after this year is finished. Guelph is the best spot to play in the league, and it is truly special that I got to experience that for my last year of junior hockey. But for now, let’s bring that trophy on home, where it belongs”, said Storm blueliner Brayden Hislop.
Tickets to Thursday’s game can be purchased online here or at the Storm box office by calling 519-837-9690 or in person at 50 Woolwich Street, Guelph, ON.
