Storm players ready for 2023 NHL Entry Draft
The 2023 NHL Entry Draft begins on Wednesday, June 28th at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville and there are several Storm players that hope to hear their names called over the course of the seven-round event.
Leading the way is Storm’s top-ranked prospect Cam Allen. Who enters Wednesday night ranked #46 on the NHL Central Scouting Bureau’s North American Skater List. Storm forward Valentin Zhugin is also draft-eligible, he finished the season with 17 goals and 17 assists for 34 points in 60 games.
Not drafted last year, there are a number of Storm players eligible. Storm forward Braeden Bowman leads the way with 33 goals and 39 assists for 72 points in 54 games during the regular season. Recipient of the Most Improved Player award, Ryan McGuire, closed out the season with 6 goals and 11 assists for 17 points in 56 games. Storm defender Chandler Romeo, who was previously drafted by the Ottawa Senators in 2021 will re-enter the NHL draft.
The Storm enter Wednesday night with 78 players selected in the NHL Entry Draft since 1992, with the 1994 NHL Draft being the most prolific with seven players selected. The top selection in franchise history is Drew Doughty who was selected 2nd overall in 2008. The last Storm players to be drafted were Matt Poitras (54th overall, Boston Bruins), Danny Zhilkin (77th overall, Winnipeg Jets), Michael Buchinger (88th overall, St. Louis Blues), and Jake Karabela (149th overall, Washington Capitals).
