Storm acquire Zander Veccia from the Steelheads
GUELPH – General Manager George Burnett announced today that the Guelph Storm have acquired forward Zander Veccia from the Mississauga Steelheads in exchange for a 2nd-round pick (Guelph) in 2026, a 3rd-round pick (Kitchener) in 2025, a conditional 4th round pick (Guelph) in 2027, and a 5th round pick (Sudbury) in the 2024 OHL Priority Selection.
“Zander has made steady progression throughout his OHL career and has the ability to have an impact in all areas of our team’s game,” said George Burnett.
The 2004-born right winger from Ridgetown, Ontario was a product of the Elgin Middlesex AAA program before being selected by the Steelheads in the third round, 43rd overall in the 2020 OHL Priority Selection. In three seasons in the OHL, the 5-foot-10, 180 lbs forward has recorded 97 points (38 goals, 59 assists) and 89 PIMs in 166 regular season games. Veccia has also suited up for 16 OHL playoff games where he has tallied 3 goals and 4 assists.
