Stevenson helps rev up Storm

He’s on a hot streak, playing the best hockey of his OHL career, and is skating for a team he believes can challenge for a league championship.
Life is good for Sault native Keegan Stevenson, a second-year winger with the Guelph Storm.
“Everything is going very well. I love it here,” said Stevenson, a six-foot-two, 185-pounder, who turned 18 on New Year’s Eve. “I feel good about my game right now.”
And why wouldn’t he?
A sixth-round pick (No. 102 overall) by the Storm in the 2016 Priority Selections draft, Stevenson has five goals and five assists in his last nine games.
It’s his second recent stretch featuring strong production.
Beginning on Dec. 2, the former member of the Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League’s Soo Thunderbirds notched seven goals and one assist over a seven-game span.
For the season, Stevenson has 17 goals, 11 assists and a plus-minus of plus-17 in 49 games.
A year ago, as an OHL rookie, he finished with five goals, five assists and a plus-4 in 61 games.
“I’ve got more confidence and I’m getting more opportunities,” said Stevenson, when asked about his improving play. “I’m controlling the puck better. It comes from having the confidence to hold onto it and make the right plays.”
