Secondary scoring comes through in Guelph Storm victory by Tony Saxon
The much-discussed, much-needed and much desired secondary scoring was on full display Sunday afternoon for the Guelph Storm.
While first-liner Charlie Paquette did open the scoring, second and third liners Simon Belohorsky and Carter Stevens each scored twice and Hunter McKenzie added another as the Storm swept its two weekend games with a 6-2 victory over the Sudbury Wolves.
Zach Jovanovski was rock solid in net, stopping 36 shots.
Guelph now sits in (13-11-2-0) sits in seventh place in the Western Conference, six points back of fourth.
“When you lose a big piece of the team, it’s important for other guys to step up and I think we’re getting that,” said Storm coach Cory Stillman, referring to the trading of Jett Luchanko.
“We’re definitely going to need second scoring … it’s going to be the only way we win hockey games.
