Game Preview: Storm end road trip in Kingston
Visiting the Kingston Frontenacs for the second of back-to-back games on the road this Sunday, the Guelph Storm will be looking to keep things rolling following a 5-2 victory over Ottawa on Saturday afternoon.
After facing the eighth seed in the Eastern Conference, the Guelph Storm (7-8-2-1, 5th Midwest), will now face the team chasing down the 67’s, the Kingston Frontenacs (6-9-1-0, 5th East).
On this road trip, the Storm have earned three of four points and will look to build off their 5-2 win against the 67’s the day before.
While on the home side of things, the Frontenacs have struggled early on and will look to snap a three-game losing streak against Guelph on Sunday.
The game is scheduled for a 2:00 PM start.

- Guelph Storm
One of the standouts from Saturday’s contest was sophomore forward, Isaac Ratcliffe. An instrumental piece in the win, the London native recorded three assists, earning three points in one game for the just the second time in his young career. With the three assists the 6-foot-6, 195-pound winger leads the team in assists and points. Through 18 games, Ratcliffe has seven goals, and 10 assists for 17 points.
Another catalyst for the Storm’s offence is, third-year forward Givani Smith. Scoring twice en route to a 5-2 victory over the 67’s, the Toronto native now leads the team in goals scored, he also leads the team in plus/minus with a +10 rating. The Detroit Red Wings Prospect continues to excel with four goals and an assist in his last five games. Through 15 games played, Smith has amassed 16 points (nine goals, seven assists).
Rounding out the Storm’s trio is Captain Garrett McFadden. The Kincardine native picked up first star honours in Saturday’s contest assisting on the game-winning goal and scoring an insurance marker. The veteran defender has generated a lot of offence from the blue line, currently sixth on the team in shots, averaging just under three-per-game. Finding the scoresheet in back-to-back games, McFadden will look to keep things rolling on this road trip.

Leading the way for the Frontenacs is sophomore winger, Jason Robertson. The 6-foot-2, 196-pound forward has 13 points (seven goals, six assists) through 16 games this season. In his rookie season, Robertson record 32 points (18 goals, 14 assists) in 54 games, and he is well on his to passing those totals.
Right behind in Frontenacs production is first-year import Linus Nyman. From Helsinki, Finland, Nyman has contributed right away offensively with11 points (six goals, five assists) through his first 16 games. The 5-foot-10, 150-pound forward enter Sunday with a two-game point streak.
One of the biggest offensive threats on the Frontenacs is sophomore centre Warren Foegele. The Markham native has been red-hot since returning from the Carolina Hurricanes training camp. The 6-foot-2, 190-pound forward has eight points (three goals, five assists) in nine games, and enters Sunday’s contest with a five-game point streak.
GAME NOTES
- Sunday’s match-up will be the first of two meetings this season for the Frontenacs and the Storm.
- Anthony Popovich (Belleville, ON) will be playing close to home and could make his hometown debut tomorrow afternoon.
- Following Sunday’s game, the Storm return to action next Friday November 11, when they play host to the Ottawa 67’s for their second and final match-up of the year.
