Game Preview: Guelph Storm vs Flint Firebirds
The Storm are back at home for the second home game of the weekend as the Flint Firebirds come to town. The puck drops at 4:00pm.
The Storm are coming into this evenings game off a 4-3 OT loss to the Owen Sound Attack. The Storm battled through the tough game against the Attack but came up just short in the overtime period. The teams record sits at 25-16-5-2 which has them remaining in the 5th overall in the conference standings. In their last 5 games the Storm are 2-1-1-1 and have been on the wrong side of the score in their last 2 games. The Storm will be looking to come break that losing streak tonight against the top team in the west.
The Firebirds have been hot since coming back from the winter break but are coming off a 5-3 loss to the Erie Otters. In their last 5 they are 3-2 with both losses coming from the Otters, their overall record now sits at 32-16-1-3. With this record the Firebirds remain in the 1st overall spot in the standings, they are also only 2 points ahead of the 2nd place London Knights. Papais has been an important part to the success of the Storm this season. In his 40 games played he has scored 19 goals which is tied for second most on the team and he has tallied 11 assists for a total of 30 points. Keep an eye out for him tonight as they take on the Firebirds.
Flint Firebirds – Amadeus Lombardi
Lombardi has quietly been a top player for the Firebirds and contributed a total of 46 points in his 51 games played. With 16 goals and 30 assists Lombardi has proven himself in his rookie OHL season. Watch out for him tonight as they try to take 2 points from the Storm.
