Bertuzzi recognized for participation in Under 17 World Hockey Challenge

On Sunday night Storm rookie Tag Bertuzzi was recognized for his participation in the 2017 World Under 17 Hockey Challange. Easton and Hunter from Hespler minor hockey presented Tag with his plaque prior to the game against the Sarnia Sting.

Since the first World Under-17 Hockey Challenge in 1986, more than 1,600 NHL draft picks have played in the tournament, including 14 of the last 17 first-overall selections… a list that includes NHL stars Alexander Ovechkin, Patrick Kane, John Tavares and Connor McDavid.  During this time, a number of former Storm players have also competed at the prestigious Under-17 tournament including Jeff O’Neill, Drew Doughty, Robby Fabbri and current Storm players Garrett McFadden, Givanni Smith, Isaac Ratcliffe, Ryan Merkley, Owen Lalonde and Cam Hillis.

From November 5 through November 11th in Dawson Creek BC, Canada’s brightest young stars hit the ice as members of three Team Canada entries to face the top Under 17 talent from around the world.  Playing on Canada Team Black, Tag recorded 4 points, 1G and 3 assists in 5 games played to finish second on his team in scoring.
