Anderson at home in net

CHICAGO — Chicagoland is home territory for Avalanche goaltender Craig Anderson, scheduled to be in the net today against the Blackhawks at the United Center.
For one thing, Anderson played 56 games for the Blackhawks from the 2002-03 through the 2005-06 seasons.
“Definitely, I have a lot of family and friends still there, and it’s a great building to play in, a good organization to play for,” Anderson said. “For me, though, now it’s just another game. It’s two points we need to get.”
Also, his ties to Chicago go back further than his NHL career. Anderson was born in Park Ridge, Ill., and progressed through youth hockey in suburban Chicago. One of his coaches mentioned he had played major junior in the Ontario Hockey League, part of what still is the most common path to the NHL. Anderson filed that away, and pondered that more when the OHL’s Guelph Storm drafted him.
