AMJ Player of the Week
The Guelph Storm announced today that forward Taylor Beck is the AMJ Player of the Week for the week ending Sunday, February 27th.
Beck recorded an astounding 13 points in four games this past week to earn Player of the Week honours. The St. Catharines native had his best game of the week against the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds on Family Day Monday recording six points, two goals and four assists. He was named the first star of the game in the Storm’s 10-4 win. On Friday night against the Colts, named first star for the second contest in a row, the 18 year old continued his scoring streak recording five points, two goals and three assists in the Storm’s 7-4 victory. Held off the scoresheet on Saturday against the Owen Sound Attack, the Nashville Predator’s 3rd round pick bounced back on Sunday with two assists in the Storm’s 4-2 victory over the Frontenacs.
With 13 points on the week, Beck remains atop the Storm scoring race with 85 points. The 18 year old leads the team in goals with 38, is second behind teammate Michael Latta in assists with 47 and is second in powerplay goals with 11. Producing at well over a point per game pace, Beck is eight points away from surpassing his career high that he set last season when he recorded 93 points.
Next up, the Storm travels to Barrie to face off against the Colts for the second time in less than a week. Friday night the Erie Otters enter the Eye of the Storm for an important playoff race match up before the Storm heads to Windsor on Sunday to face off against the Spitfires.
