In Belleville, Jeremy Smith made 50 saves to back the Niagara IceDogs to a 2-0 win over the Bulls in one of four games in the OHL playoffs on Sunday.
The win put the IceDogs back in the series after dropping the first two games in overtime. They host Game 4 on Tuesday.
Smith made 15 saves in the first period, 17 in the second and 18 in the third and held the Bulls scoreless on four powerplay advantages to earn first star honours.
Chris DeSousa snapped a scoreless tie when he fired a shot off a face-off with just over five minutes left in the third period. He added an empty-netter with seven seconds left in the game to seal the win.
Mike Murphy made 22 saves in the Belleville net.
Mississauga St. Michael’s Majors 5, Brampton Battalion 1
In Brampton, Michael Pelech had a goal and two assists and JP Anderson made 35 saves to help the Mississauga St. Michael’s Majors to a 5-1 win over the Battalion. Brampton leads the series 2-1.
Brett Flemming, Jordan Mayer, Kale Kerbashian and William Wallen also scored and Kaspars Daugavins picked up three assists in the win.
Anthony Peluso responded for Brampton with a powerplay marker in the second period and Thomas McCollum made 18 saves in the loss.
Windsor Spitfires 8, Plymouth Whalers 1
In Windsor, Dale Mitchell scored two goals and added two assists to help the Spitfires to an 8-1 win over the Plymouth Whalers to take a 2-1 lead in their Western Conference playoff series.
Adam Henrique and Andrei Loktionov also had two goals each while Taylor Hall and Greg Nemisz chipped in with singles. Ryan Ellis had three assists and Rob Kwiet had a pair of helpers.
Andrew Engelage made 29 saves in the win while Matt Hackett surrendered seven goals on 43 shots before being replaced by Scott Wedgewood, who allowed a goal on seven shots.
Beau Schmitz replied for the Whalers on a third period powerplay.
London Knights 4, Saginaw Spirit 1
In London, Nazem Kadri scored the go-ahead goal on a powerplay midway through the second period that helped the Knights to a 4-1 win over the Saginaw Spirit. The Knights took a 3-0 lead in the series and could wrap it up with a win in Game 4 in Saginaw on Tuesday.
Phil Varone opened the scoring in the last minute of the first period and Matt Clarke and Daniel Erlich also scored in the win. John Carlson chipped in with a pair of assists and Trevor Cann turned aside 21 shots.
Joe Underwood scored for Saginaw and Edward Pasquale gave up four goals on 32 shots.
