Tracking the Storm—Rumun Ndur
Drafted by the Storm in the 9th round of the 1992 OHL Priority Selection Draft, Rumun Ndur became the first ever Nigerian-born player to play in the OHL. Ndur played three seasons in Guelph where he was voted as the OHL’s Most Improved Player in the 1993-94 OHL Coaches Poll and crowned the Storm’s Most Improved Player the same year.
In the 1994 NHL Entry Draft, Ndur was selected by the Buffalo Sabres in the third round, 69th overall. Ndur’s played a total of 69 NHL games, including along side Wayne Gretzky in New York during his historical last game.
Over the course of seven seasons, Ndur has played 273 games in the AHL split between the Rochester Americans, Hartford Wolf Pack and Norfolk Admirals. Notably, Ndur won the Calder Cup with Rochestor during the 1995-96 season.
From 2016–18, Rumun served as the Assistant and Defence Coach for the Jr. B London Nationals team. Following, he transitioned to Coaching the AAA Elgin Middlsex Chiefs U18 for one season. Today, Ndur is an Independent Sales Contractor for Hudson’s Energy.
