The Guelph Storm selected Philippe Lapointe with their seventh round pick (125th overall), in the 2016 OHL Priority Selection.
A native of Hinsdale, Ilinois, Lapointe spent the 2015-16 with the Chicago Mission registering 10 points in 24 games. The five-foot-11, 176-pound forward moved to the Shattuck St. Mary’s Midget Prep team for the 2016-17 season, where he registered 59 points in 56 games, for a breakout season.
Philippe’s father, Martin Lapointe played major junior hockey with the Laval Titans’s of the QMJHL and spent 16 years in the NHL with the Detroit Red Wings, Boston Bruins, Chicago Blackhawks and Ottawa Senators, winning two Stanley Cups.
