Buck Wins The Co-operators Community Hero Award

The Guelph Storm and The Co-operators announced that Brandon Buck is the 2007-08 winner of The Co-operators Community Hero Award. The 19 year old Storm forward will accept this award prior to the home game on Wednesday night versus the Kitchener Rangers.

On hand to make the presentation at Wednesday’s game will be local Co-operators agent. Each season The Co-operators is proud to recognize one Guelph Storm player for his outstanding community involvement with The Co-operators Community Hero Award. Brandon Buck was selected to be the recipient after volunteering more than 100 hours this season, demonstrating a strong commitment to his community.

Brandon was instrumental this season in the continued development and success of the Guelph Storm’s Champions for Education program.  The Storm forward visited elementary schools several times each week delivering positive messages about the importance of education, involvement in the community, taking advantage of all possible opportunities, respect, excellence and anti-bullying. 

The 19-year old also spent many hours reading to students and conveying the importance of developing reading and creative writing skills.  In addition, to his dedication during the off season Brandon continues this program when he returns home to Delaware.

The Co-operators made a donation in the name of Brandon to the Canadian Tire Charity “Jump Start.”
