Steelheads Announce New Additions to Hockey Operations Staff
On the heels of yesterday’s CHL Import Draft, the Mississauga Steelheads announced today two additions to their hockey operations staff for the 2018-19 season with the hiring of Chris Beckford-Tseu, and CJ D’Alimonte.
Beckford, who joins the Steelheads as the new goaltending coach, is no stranger to the Greater Toronto Area having grown up playing minor hockey in the GTHL. A graduate from the Ontario Hockey League’s Oshawa Generals, “Becks” was drafted to the St. Louis Blues in the fifth round of the 2003 NHL Entry Draft. After signing with the Blues, he spent time with their minor league affiliates, the Alaska Aces and Peoria Rivermen in the ECHL and AHL respectively, before making his NHL debut for the Blues in 2007. He finished his career in 2012 after spending his remaining years in the Florida Panthers’ system. Inducted into the Alaska Aces Hall of Fame in 2017, Chris has been training goaltenders of all levels from around the world since finishing his playing career. He works with many minor hockey teams in the GTA and was the head goaltending coach for Ryerson University men’s hockey team prior to joining the Steelheads. “It’s an exciting opportunity to join a great organization and get a chance to work with a talented group of goaltenders both on the team and coming up in the system,” said Becks. Chris resides in Etobicoke with his girlfriend Ashley and their two dogs.
CJ D’Alimonte, who joins the Steelheads as the new video coach, is also no stranger to the GTA. The Vaughan, ON native, spent the past two seasons with the York University Lions men’s hockey program of the Ontario University Athletics (OUA) as their Video Coach & Statistical Analyst. CJ credits his success to his York colleagues, adding “I would like to thank Chris Dennis, Russ Herrington and the entire coaching staff at York for the opportunity to develop and grow in a winning program over the past two seasons. I am very excited and appreciative of the opportunity from James Richmond and the Mississauga Steelheads organization to join the coaching staff this season. I look forward to contributing to the future success of the Steelheads.” CJ was a member of the coaching staff that captured an OUA Queen’s Cup championship and a berth in the U SPORTS University Cup championship during the 2016-17 season. CJ has also supported the research and analytics department of an NHL team as a data tracker. A Computer Science graduate from York University, CJ is a Consultant at Deloitte specializing in cyber strategy and artificial intelligence.
The entire Steelheads staff would like to welcome Chris and CJ and their families to the organization as we look forward to another exciting season of Steelheads hockey in Mississauga.
