Dallas Stars select future Spitfire goaltender Jack Campbell in the first round, 11th overall, in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft
Drafted in the 6th round, 108th overall, in the 2008 OHL Priority Selection, Campbell will be tending goal for the Spitfires this fall after spending the last two seasons with the United States National Development team. The 6’2?, 185-lb. Goaltender from Port Huron, Michigan has won three world championships within the last year. Campbell won gold with Team USA at the 2009 World 18 tournament in Fargo, North Dakota and the 2010 World Under 18 tournament in Minsk, Belarus. Known for great athleticism and puckhandling ability that has been compared to Martin Brodeur, Campbell has a long track record of winning the big games.
??Jack Campbell is the best goaltender in the world not currently playing in the NHL,? said Windsor general manager Warren Rychel. ??I am excited not only for Windsor Spitfire fans but for fans around the OHL who are going to enjoy watching this young man play in goal.?
