Four Spitfires Named to NHL Central Scouting Final Rankings
WINDSOR, Ont. —
Forwards Liam Greentree, Anthony (AJ) Spellacy, Cole Davis and defenceman Anthony Cristoforo of the Windsor Spitfires are among a total of 57 Ontario Hockey League skaters and goaltenders in final rankings released Tuesday by the National Hockey League’s central scouting department.
Winger Liam Greentree is No. 14 on a list of 224 North American-based skaters in advance of the 2024 NHL Draft to be held June 28-29 in Las Vegas. Centre AJ Spellacy is No. 72 and Davis is No. 137. Defenceman Cristoforo is listed at No. 194.
Greentree, 18, was the Spitfires second-round pick, 34th overall, in the 2022 OHL Priority Selection from the Markham Majors U16s. He was ranked 12th in the midseason rankings.
In 64 games this season, the six-foot-two, 198-pound Oshawa, Ont., native scored 36 goals and earned 54 assists for 90 points. In 125 career games, he has 61 goals and 74 assists for 135 points.
Spellacy, was ranked 125 at midseason, and made a huge jump up to 72. The six-foot-three, 195-pound resident of Westlake, OH., doubled his point production this year after an injury in his rookie season. Spellacy recorded 21 goals and 17 assists for 38 points. He was a third-round choice in the 2022 Priority Selection, 62nd overall. In 114 career games, Spellacy has 28 goals and 27 assists for 55 points.
Davis, was ranked 184th at the midseason rankings, and he also made a big jump up to 137. The five-foot-ten, 180-pound resident of Sutton, Ont., was a fourth-round pick in the 2022 Priority Selection from the York Simcoe Express minor midgets.
In 63 games this season, Davis as a rookie scored 20 goals and recorded 21 assists for 41 points. He was 6th in rookie scoring. In 68 career games, he has 21 goals and 22 assists for 43 points.
Cristoforo, 18, was the Spitfires first-round pick in the 2022 OHL Priority Selection 22nd overall from the Toronto Jr. Canadiens program. The five-foot-eleven, 180-pound resident of Woodbridge, Ont., continued his offensive prowess from the back-end leading the Spitfires defence in scoring.
In 67 games this season, Cristoforo scored 7 goals and tallied 31 assists for 38 points. In 130 career games, he has recorded 13 goals and 66 assists for 79 points.
Players are first-time eligible for the NHL Draft in the year they turn 18, unless they are born Sept. 16 or later, in which case they must wait until the following year.
